WHAT INSPIRED ME TO WRITE THIS BLOG? WHY FIBRE HYPOTHESIS IN HEMATOLOGY BLOG???
Hi friends,
This should have been my first
blog actually…
But when I started writing, even
I was not aware that I will be writing about non- hematology topics and presently
fibre hypothesis in my blog.
Since so many non-hematology
posts coming up, I thought let me write a post clarifying it.
First, let me tell you how this blog
started...
I am a doctor, pathologist,
hematopathologist from a small beach town, French Capital of India,
Pondicherry. I am interested in hematology,
and I am more curious, I get motivated, inspired when I read about the history
of various inventions and discoveries. I used to take active part in
quiz related to hematology and that’s how I started reading various articles
about stories related to discoveries and the people related to them.
Yes, I felt like reading a
story. I never felt like reading an article or something related to subject.
The more I was reading, I was going deep into it and slowly it became my hobby.
I was keen those days, how these great peoples’
thinking were, how curious they were, how they had the inclination towards observing patients
and how much patience they had for everything. The first disease which I read
was about Hodgkin disease. Being a woman, when I read about Dorothy Reed, I
really got very inspired. There are many such people who inspired me.
I somehow feel if we have that
kind of patience and observing skills, we can also learn better and be unique.
And now why this fibre hypothesis
in hematology blog?
Before writing this post about
fibres’ historical importance, even I was thinking if it would be appropriate,
if I write about it in hematology blog.
Then the thought came, why not??
If a discoverer of hematological
diseases, has also discovered something not related to hematology, why not
share that also. This blog is about hematology topics
and the people related to hematology. It motivated me in one way as I realized
the importance of keeping my mind and my eyes open and I should not restrict
only to hematopathology or pathology.
I should be open in my thoughts,
my observing skills, being a doctor and being a human being as well.
Earlier doctor with only MBBS was
treating adults, children, conducting deliveries, doing surgeries, etc etc. Now, we have branched extensively,
that we restrict ourselves to our specialities, we put a wall for ourselves and
are reluctant to think beyond that.. MBBS became MD/MS then DM/MCH and even
still branching into smaller zones as post DM/MCH fellowships. Specialities and
super specialities are needed, but we should not restrict so much.
I wanted to share the stories which inspired
me and am sure it will motivate and inspire you as well.
I am new to writing blogs and I
welcome suggestions and comments from all my dear friends, readers and
followers..
Thank you for your constant
support….

DeleteGot the answer to my question Priya!!!
ReplyDeleteUr first blog on Burkitt lymphoma was written very lucidly and that made it exciting to read it.
I think the importance of ur blog about hematology discoveries lies in the fact that it's history that teaches u and inspires u do many things which we think are not doable .and above all it depicts the attitude , approach and qualities that we should try to inculcate for doing a scientific research!
Good going Priya!
