FOOD EPONYMS IN HEMATOLOGY-PART 2
In this post, lets see some more eponyms in hematology related
to food.
1. Fish flesh
appearance is used to describe the gross appearance of cut surface of
smooth, slightly bulging pale tan, white gray colour seen in lymphomas.
2. Fried egg appearance-
Hairy cells with abundant cytoplasm seen in bone marrow biopsy in hairy
cell leukemia.
3. Grape like clusters (Mott
cells)- The abnormal cells with cytoplasmic inclusions of immunoglobulins
seen in multiple myeloma.
4. Popcorn cell-
Type of Reed Sternberg cell seen in nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin
lymphoma.
