TEACHERS WHO SHAPED ME –PART I
Today is September 5- Dr. Sarvepalli RadhaKrishnan birthday, being celebrated as teachers day.
So I am writing a series of posts about all my teachers who
shaped me from the day I was introduced to this world and till now..
Maadha, Pidha, Guru, Dheivam (Mother, Father, Teacher, God)
I am sure all of us must have known this. This is a very
popular Sanskrit saying.
First our parents, then ‘Guru’, our teachers and God comes only
after parents and teachers. It is because in those days, irrespective of your
status, whether it was a royal person or a poor man’s son everyone studied
under a guru. The parents send their children to Guru and the Guru was the one who
imparted all forms of knowledge including spiritual knowledge to their
students. Parents handed over their children to the gurus, so the ‘Guru’ comes third in the order and ‘Guru’ guides us
to see the God. And finally God the
fourth in order.
I would like to share another Sanskrit phrase or poem.
“Guru Brahmaa Guru Vishnu Guru devo Maheswarah
Guru saakshaat parabrahma tasmai shri gurave namh”
The meaning of this is
Guru is the Brahma- who sows the seed of Spirituality..
Guru is the Vishnu- who is the protector for the disciple in
the spiritual path
Guru is the Maheswara- he himself is the Lord.
My salutations to the Guru who is the Brahma, Vishnu and
Maheswara. The guru is the Parabrahma incarnate.
My first teachers are my parents, my father and mother, who taught me what is good and bad, what is right and wrong. They never enforced anything on me. They always guided me to take any decision by saying the pros and cons. They were so particular to give us the best education and put us in the best schools possible.
Happy teachers day dear appa and amma.

We learn everyday something
new from the people whom we meet, whom we come across. Learning is a continuous
process. We learn from ourselves, from the mistakes we make as well. I thank everyone
from whom I learnt.
"One book, one pen, one child
and one teacher can change the world."
I will write separate posts about my teachers at different
stages subsequently.
